Bosch EL-52100 GM Multiple Diagnostic Interface 2 (MDI 2)

Designed for professional technicians to aid in diagnosing and repairing automotive electrical and electronic systems. It serves as a bridge between a vehicle and a host PC, facilitating data transfer and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) reprogramming. The MDI 2 stands out with its enhanced processing power, improved security features, and faster programming speeds, making it ideal for work on Global A and future Global B vehicles. It supports a wide range of diagnostic and Pass-Thru programming applications, including GDS 2, Data Bus Diagnostic Tool, Tech2Win, and TIS2Web–SPS, and is backward compatible with vehicles built since 1996 using the J1962 connector. Connectivity options include USB for standalone use and CAT5 for network integration, with USB 2.0 support for quick firmware updates. The device introduces a new Type B connector and features Ground Offset Failure protection, recommending wired connections for reliability during extended programming sessions. Its design improvements include a longer DLC cable that connects at the top for easier operation.
