A life simulation game where players create and manage a community of customizable Mii characters on a virtual island. Players begin by naming their island and creating a Mii "lookalike" with a unique personality based on adjustable traits like speech and quirkiness. The game offers various activities, including feeding Miis, fostering friendships, resolving conflicts, and facilitating romances, which can lead to marriage and even children. New locations, outfits, foods, and items become available as players interact with their islanders, earning in-game currency through problem-solving and item sales. The game operates in real time, with events and interactions changing throughout the day. Children born to married Miis can grow up and either stay on the island or be sent to other players' islands via StreetPass.
