A video game in which the player controls the titular hero as he battles to clear his name after being framed for a scientific equipment theft at Science Expo 2000 by an impostor, prompting a citywide police manhunt. The story follows Spider-Man as he works with allies like Black Cat, Daredevil, and the Human Torch, confronts enemies including the Jade Syndicate, Scorpion, Rhino, and Venom, rescues kidnapped loved ones such as Mary Jane Parker and Black Cat, and encounters the Lizard, who had been imprisoned by Venom after the symbiote seized control of his Lizard Men, eventually leading to a begrudging alliance with Venom to uncover the true culprit. Gameplay consists of navigating level-based stages where the player must reach an exit or complete specific objectives, retrying the level if Spider-Man loses all health, falls from a building, or fails tasks such as rescuing a hostage.
