In Our Community: Cinco de Mayo | Blog | Pawn America MN & WI

This upcoming Saturday will be Cinco de Mayo (the 5th of May)! We will be celebrating this historic day at the Cinco de Mayo- West Side Saint Paul Festival. Join us on Cesar Chavez street in Saint Paul for a day filled with cultural entertainment, excitement and exploring all the Westside has to offer!

The 5th of May is an important day in Mexican history because it commemorates El Dia de la Batalla de Puebla (The Day of the Battle of Puebla), when Mexico triumphed over the French in 1862. Many United States and Mexican citizens celebrate history and tradition on this day for this reason.

So why go to this event? To learn, discover and have fun! West Side is an incredible neighborhood rich in Mexican heritage. The festival began in 1985 as a celebration of the community and its businesses, and a means for preserving the area’s culture and history. It is a gathering of local residents as much as it is an opportunity for non-residents to experience the vibrancy of Saint Paul’s West Side. Admission is free and the day will go from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.For more of the ins and outs of the festival click here!
