Features
A side-scrolling action game in which the player controls a powered exoskeleton suit piloted by the titular Ranger X, who leads a resistance against the invading Rahuna forces on his home planet. The exoskeleton is equipped with a jet pack that enables short bursts of flight, though the jet pack overheats with extended use and requires the player to land and wait for it to cool down. Ranger X's standard pulse rifle is supplemented by an arsenal of special weapons, including a flamethrower and homing attacks, which draw from a limited power bar that recharges when the suit is exposed to a bright light source. Additional special weapons can be acquired by collecting power-ups throughout the levels. On certain stages, the player can also command a supporting vehicle known as an Ex-Up, such as Indra, a futuristic motorcycle that can move and fire independently of Ranger X and provides its own shielding when the pilot is aboard.
