Features
A 500-series format Class-A mic preamp featuring a three-stage amplifier design based on the 1290 preamp and vintage 1073 circuitry. Components within the unit are hand-selected, including Carnhill input and output transformers and WIMA and tantalum capacitors in the signal path. Controls include a Grayhill 12-position gain switch, a LINE mode for line-level processing, and a LO Z switch to adjust input impedance between 1.2kO and 300O. A TRIM knob ranges from -80dB to 0dB to control signal levels. Connectivity features a standard mic input, a 4.7kO line input with 25dB attenuation, and a front panel DI input with 1MO impedance and 35dB attenuation that disables the mic and line inputs when active. Power is managed by an on-board regulator set to +24V. The preamp provides a gain range of 0 to 70dB with an Equivalent Input Noise specification of -128dBA and a total harmonic distortion plus noise level of 0.0032% at 20dB gain.
