About Pawn America

Founded in 1991, we grew to 17 stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin and employ over 200 hard-working people. Our goal is to help you pawn, sell, or trade with our helpful services. We also founded and operate MyBridgeNow.

How we do business…

From a single, modest, 900 square-foot Pawn America location in Robbinsdale in 1991, we have grown to stores in two states, shown excellent growth year after year and are repeatedly named one of the fastest-growing companies in Minnesota.

We consider ourselves recyclers. After all, that’s our business—recycling merchandise that otherwise might be dealt with in a less optimal recycled manner. Also, we don’t deal in adult material; it’s not our culture. We refuse to make anyone uncomfortable shopping in our stores. Pawn America is a family experience, with something for everyone. Our top products are jewelry, consumer electronics, musical instruments, tools, recreation items, art and collectibles, Blu-Ray box sets, video games, tablets, laptops and much more.

We’re active in the communities we serve, and our outreach programs have won the Jefferson Award for Corporate Philanthropy. It isn’t a chore; it’s a joy. “We GET to do this,” Pawn America founder Brad Rixmann has said more than once. We have worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs, developed the Kids Feeding Kids program, created Heart of the City: A Run to Remember 15K/10K/5K to benefit Kids Feeding Kids and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities and Rochester, helped organize the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Foundation, supported the Fairview Hospital Transitional Care Unit (where Brad has been known to play Santa), and more. We support our troops around the world, regularly sending care packages to those stationed so far from home.

We believe in looking forward, always finding ways to improve. We choose locations in thriving areas of a community, where every retailer wants to be. We want our neighbors to be glad we moved in. We want to be seen as part of the community’s bright future.

We work diligently to change existing stereotypes. Hollywood has created negative images of pawnshops. We operate in the real world. Everyone has to win in every transaction. We communicate clearly with our customers, so everyone understands how things work, and what they are getting. We remain transparent by reporting to authorities, communicating with local detectives almost daily, keeping a watchful eye on what comes into our stores. Any stolen items are returned to their owners.

You can trust Pawn America. We’re here to stay because we do things right.
